Pakistan to Establish First EASA-Standard Aircraft Maintenance Centre

23 July, 2026 10:31

Pakistan is taking an important step towards becoming self-reliant in the aviation sector by establishing modern aircraft maintenance and training facilities.

For the first time, an aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre based on European Aviation Safety Agency standards is being established in Pakistan. The facility is being set up by private aviation company Nortic at Islamabad International Airport.

The centre will provide maintenance and repair services for Airbus A318, A319 and other aircraft. Airblue Limited is also constructing a modern aircraft maintenance hangar at the airport to protect aircraft, engineers and technical equipment from weather conditions.

Airblue plans to establish a flight training centre and full-flight simulator by April 2027. The projects are being developed under the Ministry of Defence’s Aviation Sector Transformation Programme and are expected to help turn Islamabad International Airport into a regional aviation hub.
