Shalimar Express Suspended for One Month Due to Flood Damage

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has suspended the Shalimar Express, a premium train service operating between Lahore and Karachi, for one month after floodwaters damaged a railway bridge.

The Shalimar Express normally travels between Lahore and Karachi through Faisalabad. However, train services between Lahore and Faisalabad have been suspended after the Qila Sattar Shah-Misan Kallar railway bridge was damaged by floodwater.

The Shalimar Express is operated in cooperation with the private sector and is considered one of Pakistan Railways’ premium train services. The suspension is expected to affect passengers travelling between Lahore, Faisalabad, and Karachi.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has also changed the route of the Karakoram Express. The train previously travelled from Lahore to Karachi through Faisalabad, but it will now operate via Sahiwal because of the disruption on the affected railway section.

Railway authorities have taken these steps to manage passenger travel and ensure safety while teams assess the damage and carry out necessary repair work. Train operations are expected to return to normal once the damaged railway infrastructure is restored.
