Police Surgeon Sumaiya Syed wrote to the SP East flagging serious deficiencies in the postmortem report prepared by Dr. Usama Sheikh. In her letter, she noted that no X-rays were conducted on the body, no chemical analysis was performed on gunpowder residue at the entry wound, and photographs weren’t taken according to forensic standards — a combination of omissions that would significantly limit the report’s evidentiary reliability in establishing the precise circumstances of the shooting.

Syed further wrote that the postmortem report lacked adequate explanation of bone markings at the entry and exit wounds consistent with standard forensic methodology, and that the entry wound was recorded as notably larger than the exit wound in the report — a detail forensic pathologists typically flag as unusual, since exit wounds from gunshots are often larger than entry wounds due to bullet deformation and tissue disruption during passage through the body, making this reversed pattern worth independent verification. She stated that re-examination and confirmation of the entry and exit wounds was necessary given these inconsistencies.

The convergence of a formally challenged postmortem report, visible physical evidence in photographs suggesting injuries beyond what the original report documented, and now a father blocking exhumation after alleging the medical board was altered overnight, points to a case where the reliability of the initial forensic investigation has become directly disputed by both official channels and the family themselves — though for different, and not necessarily aligned, reasons.
