Mir Raza Ali Case Takes New Turn After Second Autopsy Reveals Multiple Injuries

The initial findings of the second post-mortem examination of young businessman Mir Raza Ali have revealed that he suffered a gunshot wound, multiple fractures and several other injuries before his death, according to the medical report.

The fresh examination was conducted after Ali’s family rejected the earlier suggestion that he had died by suicide and repeatedly demanded a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. His body was exhumed for a second medical examination after his family raised concerns and alleged that he was murdered.

According to the report, the firearm injury was caused from the rear side of the body. Doctors also found signs of violence on different parts of Ali’s body, indicating that he had suffered multiple injuries before his death.

The medical report stated that a firearm wound was found on the right side of Ali’s chest near the nipple area. The bullet entered from the right side, travelled towards the front portion of the heart and caused serious damage before exiting from the left side near the ribs. Doctors also found fractures in the ribs and injuries to the lungs and chest area.

The examination revealed a deep injury on the right side of his head, a fractured nasal bone and blood accumulation in different parts of the head. Injuries were also found on his face, jaw and other areas of the body. A fracture and injury measuring around 12 centimetres were also identified on his right thigh.

The report further mentioned that injuries were found on Ali’s feet, including marks on his toe, while blood stains were detected in lower body tissues. Doctors classified the injuries as ante-mortem, meaning they occurred before his death.

The medical team also collected samples from Ali’s body for further forensic examination. A total of 17 samples were taken, including four DNA samples and others for chemical analysis. Reference samples were also collected from Ali’s parents to help with DNA matching. The samples are expected to be examined at the University of Karachi’s forensic laboratory.

Following the new medical findings, Karachi police decided to change the investigation team probing Ali’s death. Officials said senior police officers, including SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SSP Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Samiullah Soomro, were removed from the investigation. A new team is expected to be formed soon.

The decision came after Ali’s parents expressed a lack of confidence in the previous investigation. Family lawyer Jibran Nasir also criticised the police investigation, alleging that authorities pressured the family to accept the incident as a suicide instead of properly investigating the matter.

Nasir said the medical findings supported the family’s claims and showed evidence of violence, including facial injuries, fractured ribs and a gunshot wound from behind. He demanded a fresh investigation based on all available evidence and warned that the family would approach the court if justice was not provided.

Mir Raza Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, was found dead after leaving his shop in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on July 28. His family said he had told them he would return within a few minutes but never came back. His father later rejected claims of suicide and alleged that his son was murdered.

The family has continued to demand a transparent investigation, while authorities await the final forensic and DNA reports to determine the complete circumstances surrounding Ali’s death.
