PM Shehbaz Arrives in Kyrgyzstan for Three-Day SCO Summit Visit

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic on Monday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev welcomed the prime minister at Manas International Airport.

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting and the SCO Plus Summit. He will also assume Pakistan’s Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) for 2026–2027.

The prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of participating countries on the sidelines of the SCO meetings. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games being held in Kyrgyzstan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar and senior officials are accompanying him.

On September 2, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold talks with President Sadyr Zhaparov on the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations.

The two sides will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, energy, regional connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

The leaders will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest and cooperation through regional and multilateral forums.
