Uzma Bukhari Criticizes KP Government Over Protests

15 September, 2026 18:56

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over ongoing protests and strikes by medical staff and other employees across the province. She said young doctors in Dera Ismail Khan were continuing their strike over their demands, while the Medical Stores Association had also launched a separate strike. Bukhari said patients and their families were being forced to suffer as hospitals faced disruptions, while employees of Gomal University were also continuing their protest.

Bukhari alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been “practically without a caretaker” for the past two days, claiming that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and his cabinet were visiting Lahore instead of addressing problems in their province. She said that after seeing Lahore’s development, the chief minister and his ministers should return to KP and focus on the concerns of their own people.

The Punjab minister further accused the KP government of incompetence, mismanagement and corruption, alleging that the province had been left at the mercy of what she described as “thieves and looters.” She also claimed that the chief minister was more concerned about a prisoner in Adiala Jail than about the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
