Sindh Government Spokesperson Challenges MQM-P’s Administrative Units Demand

19 September, 2026 19:40

Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed has said the MQM has consistently maintained that it is not seeking the division of Sindh but is instead calling for the creation of new administrative units. Speaking on the program “Saat Se Aath,” she said there are several areas across Sindh where improvements are needed, while claiming that the MQM’s electoral support base in the province has declined.

Javed also responded to Mustafa Kamal’s claim that Rs300 billion had been spent on Karachi during his tenure, saying that if such an amount had actually been invested in the city, its overall condition would have been significantly different. She further criticized former federal cabinet secretary Younus Dagha, alleging that he had consistently criticized the Sindh government rather than proposing measures for improvement.

Javed said provinces cannot be created through press conferences and television program, and challenged the MQM to bring its proposals before the provincial or federal assemblies. She said that if the government intends to introduce a 28th Constitutional Amendment, it should first present a draft. Javed also questioned Mustafa Kamal’s administrative record, saying that someone who could not manage a hospital in Islamabad was now speaking about the creation of new provinces.
