Ishaq Dar Arrives in New York for UN General Assembly High-Level Week

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has arrived in New York to participate in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He was received upon arrival by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai, along with officers of Pakistan’s Mission to the UN and the Consulate General in New York.

Ishaq Dar has a busy programme of high-level engagements scheduled for the week ahead.

The deputy prime minister and foreign minister will participate in ministerial forums and deliver Pakistan’s statements and interventions on key issues of importance to the country.

His engagements will cover bilateral, regional and international priorities across the UN agenda.

Ishaq Dar will also accompany Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the high-level UNGA engagements.

Alongside the prime minister, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other countries.

He will also participate in various high-level meetings and engagements on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

The visit is part of Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement during the UN General Assembly’s high-level week, providing an opportunity to highlight Islamabad’s positions on key regional and international issues and strengthen bilateral relations with partner countries.
