Ishaq Dar, Nepal FM Discuss Flood Situation, Bilateral Cooperation

New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Ishaq Dar conveyed condolences over the loss of life and devastation caused by recent flash floods in Nepal, assuring that Pakistan stands with the people of Nepal during the difficult time.

Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal thanked Pakistan for its support and briefed Ishaq Dar on the scale of the disaster and its impact on people and infrastructure.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation through the Political Consultations and Economic Consultations mechanisms.

They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and underscored the importance of continued coordination at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations and SAARC.

Both sides agreed to remain in contact to further expand bilateral cooperation.
