Ramadan School timing 2025 announced

26 February, 2025 13:42

ISLAMABAD: Education authorities have released the updated school timings for Ramadan 2025 in Pakistan.

The adjustments to the schedules are designed to accommodate students and staff at educational institutions in Punjab and Sindh, who will be fasting while still engaging in academic activities.

In Punjab, regular schools will operate from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM on weekdays, with Friday classes concluding at 12:30 PM. For double-shift schools, the morning session will run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by an afternoon shift from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On Fridays, the afternoon shift will be adjusted to 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

In Sindh, the Ramadan schedule will vary depending on the educational level. Primary schools with single shifts will have operating hours from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Double-shift primary schools will hold morning classes from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM and afternoon sessions from 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM. Secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools in Sindh will follow the same schedule as primary institutions during Ramadan.

School administrators have been instructed to implement these revised timings as soon as Ramadan begins. Parents and students are advised to check with their respective school administrations or consult provincial education department websites for further details.

In related news, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has provided predictions regarding the sighting of the Ramadan moon for 2025.

According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, the new moon is expected to occur at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST) on February 28, 2025. However, due to the moon’s low altitude and distance on that day, it will be challenging to view the crescent in Pakistan.

“Given the moon’s position and distance on February 28, the crescent will not be visible to the naked eye,” the spokesperson clarified.

Based on these calculations, SUPARCO forecasts that Ramadan will likely commence in Pakistan on March 2, 2025.

The spokesperson also emphasized that these are predictions and that the final decision regarding the sighting of the Ramadan moon will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene in Peshawar on Friday, February 28, for the official moon sighting of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak.
