Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced the 8070 Ramadan Relief Package 2025, a Rs20 billion initiative aimed at assisting low-income families across Pakistan in preparation for the holy month of Ramzan.
Key Highlights of the 8070 Relief Package
The scheme will benefit 4 million eligible families by providing them with Rs10,000 in cash assistance and discounts on essential food items through a digitized distribution system. This initiative is designed to replace the long queues previously seen at Utility Stores during Ramadan.
Two-Tier Relief Initiative
The relief package consists of the following components:
- Cash Assistance: Each eligible family will receive Rs10,000 to manage household expenses during Ramadan.
- Ration Subsidy: Discounts will be available on essential food items, including flour, sugar, pulses, ghee, and rice.
Eligibility Criteria for the 8070 Ramadan Relief Package
To qualify for the Ramzan relief package, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) or the Ehsaas Programme.
- Not be receiving financial aid from any other government relief program.
- Possess a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
Registration Process
Eligible individuals can apply using the official PSER portal by entering their CNIC and mobile number and completing the registration form. Alternatively, applicants can verify their eligibility by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8070 for further instructions.
Disbursement of Funds
To ensure seamless distribution, the government has introduced multiple disbursement channels:
- Bank Transfers: Funds will be directly deposited into accounts at HBL, UBL, and Bank Alfalah.
- Mobile Wallets: Beneficiaries can access funds through Easypaisa and JazzCash.
- Ehsaas Program Centers: Those without bank accounts can collect their aid from designated Ehsaas Centers.
- Union Council Offices: Eligible families can complete verification and receive funds at local government offices.
Official Statement on the Relief Package
The government has encouraged eligible families to complete their registration process as soon as possible to avoid any delays in receiving assistance. With the registration deadline approaching, early enrollment is advised to ensure timely disbursement.
In an official statement, the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized:
“The 8070 Ramadan Relief Package is designed to ease the financial burden on struggling families and ensure they have access to essential food supplies during Ramzan.”
For further details, individuals can visit the official 8070 web portal or send their CNIC number to 8070 for quick eligibility verification.
Government’s Commitment to Public Welfare
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Ramzan package in the federal capital, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to public welfare, stating that this year, four million families (approximately 20 million people) will receive Rs5,000 per household via a digital wallet.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that inflation during Ramadan this year is lower than in previous years. He reiterated that the government has allocated a significant Rs20 billion for this initiative, ensuring financial relief for millions of Pakistani households.
