Expected Eid Holidays in Pakistan 2025

17 March, 2025 13:33

Islamabad: Pakistanis are expected to enjoy an extended 9-day holiday during Eid-ul-Fitr in 2025, according to astronomical predictions and official sources.

The holiday period is anticipated to span from March 29 to April 6, offering a long break for the public to celebrate the festive occasion.

The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to fall on March 31, 2025, in Pakistan. However, the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

Astronomical experts suggest that if the moon is sighted on March 30, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 31 (Monday). In this case, the three-day Eid holidays will be observed from March 31 to April 2 (Monday to Wednesday). However, if the moon is not sighted and Ramadan completes 30 days, Eid will be celebrated on April 1 (Tuesday), extending the holidays until April 3 (Thursday).

Additionally, since Saturday and Sunday are already official weekends for government employees, the total number of holidays could reach up to 9 days, including the Eid break. This would provide citizens with a rare opportunity to enjoy an extended festive period.

The final schedule of official holidays will depend on the government’s approval and the official announcement of the moon sighting. Citizens across the country are eagerly awaiting the confirmation to plan their Eid celebrations and travel accordingly.
