Issuance of Fresh Notes through SMS Service 8877

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has not yet announced whether it will issue fresh notes for Eid ul-Fitr 2025. In previous years, SBP facilitated this tradition by providing new banknotes through commercial banks.

If the service resumes this year, SBP will make an official announcement closer to Eid. Keep checking SBP’s website or visit your nearest bank branch for updates.

How to Get Fresh Currency Notes?

In past years, SBP introduced an SMS-based service with the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) for easy distribution of fresh notes. The process included:

1. SMS Registration – Sending your CNIC number and bank branch code to 8877.
2. Confirmation Message – Receiving an SMS with collection details.
3. Collection – Visiting the selected bank branch with your original CNIC and confirmation SMS.

If SBP announces a similar method for 2025, we’ll provide the details.

SBP suspended fresh note distribution in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. In later years, economic constraints also impacted the service. Many Pakistanis now hope that the fresh currency note issuance will resume for Eid ul-Fitr 2025.

Beware of Black Market Sellers

Some unauthorized sellers offer fresh notes at higher prices. This practice is illegal and not regulated by SBP. To avoid scams and extra costs, wait for an official announcement from SBP.
