Flexible solar cells developed by Japanese scientists

Japanese scientists have made progress in developing flexible solar panels that could be used for wearable devices in the future.

Experts from Japan’s Riken Research Institute have worked on the production of flexible solar cells.

According to experts, it will be like a plastic bag which can be stretched to a great extent.

They used a compound called ION E to produce flexible solar cells.

They added this compound to the electrode layer of the solar cell, which increased its flexibility without affecting the power generation capacity.

The research team discovered that the method retained 95 per cent of its energy production capacity.

Experts said they are now planning to develop larger flexible solar cells.

If they get success, it will be possible to manufacture such advanced wearable devices that can be powered by solar energy.
