Meta launches next-generation glasses Aria Gen 2

Meta has unveiled its next-generation glasses.

After the launch of latest Aria Gen 2, the social media giant has express the hope to enable researchers from academia and industry to unlock new work in machine perception, robotics, contextual AI, and more.

In its blog post, Meta said that they are excited to announce the introduction of Aria Gen 2 glasses, which is the next generation of hardware that will unlock new possibilities across a wide range of research areas, including egocentric, machine perception, contextual AI, and robotics.

The next generation glasses – Aria Gen 2 – is a research-focused headset, which has been designed to help in the advancement of AI, robotics and machine perception.

Aria Gen 2 does not have a display as the device works on sensor-driven spatial intelligence. It also comes with spatial microphones and upgraded RGB and eye-tracking cameras etc. The glasses are equipped with Meta’s custom silicon for real-time AI processing.

It also includes a photoplethysmogram sensor, which is used for heart rate monitoring besides a contact microphone for accurate voice isolation.

Aria Gen 2  is built on the foundations laid by Project Aria that began in 2020. The device improves on its predecessors and features advanced sensors, enhanced processing and better usability.
