How to check PTA tax and register your mobile in Pakistan

If you bring an imported or unregistered mobile phone into Pakistan, you can’t use a SIM card on it unless it’s registered with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

PTA has strict rules requiring all devices to be verified through their Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).

The PTA tax is made up of import duties and government charges applied to phones brought from abroad. To use your mobile legally in Pakistan, you must check its PTA status and pay the tax if needed.

How to Check PTA Tax and Registration Status

You can easily check your mobile’s status using these official methods:

1. Through the PTA DIRBS Website

• Go to https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk

• Enter your phone’s 15-digit IMEI number (dial *#06# to find it).

• The system will show one of these results: Compliant (Registered), Non-Compliant (Tax pending), or Blocked (Not usable in Pakistan).

2. By SMS to 8484

• Dial *#06# to get your IMEI number.

• Send the IMEI via SMS to 8484.

• PTA will reply with your device’s status.

3. Through the DVS Mobile App

• Download the PTA Device Verification System (DVS) app.

• Enter or scan your IMEI number.

• The app will instantly show your phone’s registration status.

How to Pay PTA Tax
