20 March, 2026 19:40

CD Projekt Red is speeding up work on The Witcher 4. The studio recently shared an update about its upcoming projects, revealing a major change: Ciri will replace Geralt as the main protagonist in the next game.

A Big Team for The Witcher 4

As of February 28, 2026, CD Projekt Red has 933 developers. Over half of them—499—are now working on The Witcher 4. This team has grown by 88 new members since February 2025.

The studio has also added top industry talent. Felix Pedulla, previously the cinematic director for Baldur’s Gate 3, has joined. Former Blizzard Entertainment composer Russell Brower and cinematic animator Lucie Hennet are also on board.

Updates on Other Projects

Other CD Projekt Red titles are also growing. Cyberpunk 2 is in pre-production, with its team expanding from 135 to 149 developers. The planned Witcher multiplayer game, known as Project Sirius, now has 71 developers, up from 49 last year. Meanwhile, Project Hadar lost three members, leaving 26, and the studio’s “Other” category also lost three developers.

A Six-Year Plan for The Witcher

The Witcher 4 does not have a release date yet. However, CD Projekt Red aims to release three new Witcher games over the next six years. The fourth game will take the longest to develop, while the following two titles will be faster to produce using the groundwork already laid.

This roadmap shows CD Projekt Red’s commitment to expanding the Witcher universe and delivering exciting new experiences for fans.
