Oppo and Vivo developing premium vlogging cameras, leak suggests

Chinese smartphone makers Oppo and Vivo are reportedly preparing to enter the growing vlogging camera market. According to a new leak, both companies are developing compact cameras that could compete with DJI’s popular Osmo Pocket series.

The report shared on Weibo claims that both brands are working on cameras featuring a 200MP sensor. The sensor size is said to be 1/1.12-inch, which suggests it could use Sony’s Lytia 901 sensor that was introduced last year.

The leak also says that Oppo may continue its partnership with Hasselblad for camera tuning, while Vivo could work with Zeiss, as both brands already collaborate with these companies in their smartphone camera systems.

Along with strong camera hardware, the devices are expected to include flagship-level processors, although exact chip details have not been revealed. The main focus appears to be on delivering high-quality imaging for vloggers and content creators.

Another reported feature is deep integration with smartphones. The cameras may allow users to quickly transfer photos and videos directly to Oppo and Vivo phones, making editing and sharing much easier.

The move comes as the compact vlogging camera segment continues to grow, largely led by DJI’s Osmo Pocket series. Its popularity has increased due to its small size, stabilized video, and creator-friendly features.

However, competition is now rising. DJI is also working on new models, while other brands like Insta360 are preparing new products for the same market.

If the leaks are accurate, Oppo and Vivo could soon become strong competitors in a space that has long been dominated by DJI.
