What Charges Is Matt Prokop Facing? Former Disney Star Arrested in Texas

Former teen actor Matt Prokop, best known for his role in High School Musical 3, has been arrested in Texas on multiple charges, including alleged possession or promotion of child p*rn*graphy, violation of bond conditions, and evading and resisting arrest.

According to reports cited by Cross Roads Today, Prokop was taken into custody on December 24, 2025, at a residence in Victoria County, Texas. He was subsequently booked into the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Jail. The arrest reportedly stems from an alleged breach of bond conditions that were imposed following a 2024 arrest involving charges of resisting arrest and aggravated assault against a family member.

Authorities allege that the latest charges are connected to Prokop’s failure to comply with court-ordered bond terms, alongside new accusations related to illegal material. As of now, no official statement has been released by Prokop or his legal representatives addressing the latest developments.

Prokop has also previously made headlines due to serious allegations raised by his former partner, actress Sarah Hyland. In September 2014, Hyland was granted a restraining order against Prokop after accusing him of verbal and physical abuse during their five-year relationship. Court filings cited by People Magazine allege that Prokop slammed Hyland into a vehicle and attempted to choke her, describing a broader pattern of violence.

While accepting Variety’s Courage Award in 2024, Hyland publicly reflected on her experience with abuse, stating:
“For thousands of years now, we didn’t talk about it. The community hasn’t shared enough, I believe…”

She further added:
“[It stays] in that abused place of your soul, where you think it’s your fault the whole time…”
