Man Kills Friend Over Online Ludo Betting Dispute
In a shocking incident in Aligarh, India, a dispute over winnings from an online Ludo game escalated to murder when a man allegedly killed his friend with a hammer after a disagreement over a relatively small sum of money.
Police have arrested the suspect and launched a thorough investigation into the case.
According to authorities, the murder occurred on 5 November, but details emerged only on 13 November. Superintendent of Police Amrit Jain reported that 30-year-old Dinesh Kumar left his home on 5 November, claiming he was heading to the employment office, but he never returned. After several days of unsuccessful attempts to locate him, Dinesh’s family filed a missing person report. On 13 November, his skeletal remains, along with his clothing and slippers, were discovered near a canal.
A special investigation team (SIT) was formed to probe the case. The victim’s motorcycle was later recovered hidden in nearby grasslands. Based on collected evidence, police arrested Dinesh’s friend, Vishnu, who confessed to the murder during interrogation.
Vishnu stated that he and Dinesh regularly gambled on online Ludo. In an earlier round, Vishnu reportedly won around ₹7,000, which Dinesh allegedly refused to pay. On 3 November, Dinesh lost an additional ₹10,000, leading to a dispute over a total of ₹17,000.
According to police, Vishnu claimed he was verbally abused and threatened by the victim. Out of personal resentment, he attacked Dinesh near a bridge, striking him multiple times on the head with a hammer and stick, killing him instantly. The body was then dumped near a canal, and the victim’s motorcycle was concealed nearby.
Authorities confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
