The Government of Punjab has introduced the Asan Karobar Card Scheme, a major initiative aimed at supporting small entrepreneurs by providing interest-free loans of up to PKR 1 million. The scheme, designed to encourage sustainable business growth, utilizes a digital SME card to ensure transparent and structured fund utilization.
Key Features of the Scheme
- Loan Limit: Up to PKR 1 million
- Tenure: 3 years
- Loan Type: Revolving credit during the first year
- Repayment: 24 equal monthly installments after a 3-month grace period
- Interest Rate: 0%
Borrowers can make payments to suppliers, utility companies, and tax authorities, as well as conduct digital transactions through POS or mobile applications. Cash withdrawals of up to 25% of the loan limit are also permitted strictly for business purposes.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be small entrepreneurs—either existing or aspiring—operating in Punjab. Additional requirements include:
- Age between 21 and 57 years
- Pakistani nationality with a valid CNIC and mobile number
- No overdue loans
- Passing a psychometric and digital verification process
Only one application is allowed per individual or business.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted digitally via the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) portal, with a non-refundable processing fee of PKR 500. Verification of CNIC, business, and credit history will be conducted by authorized agencies. Interested applicants can apply at: akc.punjab.gov.pk
Loan Disbursement and Repayment
- The first 50% of the approved credit is made available during the initial six months.
- The remaining 50% is released after fulfilling usage and tax registration requirements with PRA/FBR.
- A three-month grace period is provided before repayments begin.
- Repayments start with a minimum of 5% of the outstanding principal balance each month.
- Non-business transactions are prohibited.
Additional Details
- Annual card fee: PKR 25,000 plus FED, deducted from the approved limit.
- Security requirements include a digital personal guarantee and life assurance coverage.
- Feasibility studies are available on the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) and Bank of Punjab (BOP) websites.
