Karachi Faces Coldest Night of Winter as Temperature Drops to 7.1°C
Karachi shivered through the coldest night of the ongoing winter season on Thursday midnight, as temperatures dropped sharply across the city, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The lowest temperature was recorded at Jinnah Terminal, falling to 7.1°C, marking the coldest reading this winter so far. Other areas also experienced chilly conditions. Gulistan-e-Johar recorded 9.8°C, Bin Qasim 10.1°C, and Mauripur 11°C. The city’s average minimum temperature stood at 9.3°C.
Weather Forecast for Karachi
The PMD said the weather will remain dry for the next 24 hours, with cold nights expected to continue. The minimum temperature is forecasted between 10°C and 12°C, while daytime highs are expected to reach 24°C to 26°C.
Humidity in the city was measured at 44%, and north-easterly winds were blowing at 7 km/h. Meteorologists have warned that cold conditions will persist, especially during early mornings and nighttime.
Cold Wave Across Sindh
Other parts of Sindh are also feeling the chill. Mohenjo-Daro recorded the lowest temperature at 3°C, followed by Mithi at 4°C and Larkana at 4.5°C.
Jacobabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Sakrand, and Mirpur Khas recorded around 5°C, while Hyderabad city saw a minimum of 6.7°C.
Cities including Badin, Thatta, Tandojam, and Shaheed Benazirabad also faced cold conditions, with temperatures ranging between 5°C and 9.5°C.
Residents are advised to take precautions against cold weather, especially during early mornings and late nights.
