Met Office forecasts rain and strong winds in several areas of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has forecast rain, hail, and strong winds in several parts of the country.

According to the Met Office, rain is expected in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. However, hot weather will continue in most areas, while some cities may also see thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain.

The department said Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Murree are likely to receive rain. Thunderstorms and rain are also expected in Dir, Swat, Malam Jabba, Kohistan, and Bajaur.

Other areas including Kalam, Chitral, Buner, Kohat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar may also experience wind and rain. Similarly, rain with thunderstorms is forecast in Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Parachinar, Kurram, and Bannu.

The Met Office added that DI Khan, Lakki Marwat, Karak, and Waziristan may also see windy and rainy conditions. Peshawar will remain partly cloudy with hot weather, and temperatures may rise up to 40°C, with humidity recorded at 29%.

Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last night. The highest rainfall was 20 mm in Upper Dir, followed by 17 mm in Mirkhani, 16 mm in Kalam, 13 mm in Drosh, and 8 mm in Pattan.

In Lahore, some areas experienced rain, making the weather more pleasant and reducing the heat. However, no rain is expected in the city today, and dry weather is likely to continue.

The Met Office said Lahore’s current temperature is around 34°C, with a maximum expected to reach 41°C and a minimum of 28°C. Winds may blow at 5 to 26 km/h during the day, while humidity is about 35%, making the weather feel slightly better.
