Who will be Pakistan team head coach?

06 March, 2024 15:11

The scouting for the new head coach for the Pakistan cricket team has become the priority of the Mohsin Naqvi-led management as two names emerged as favourite to land the job.

Both coaches are currently in Pakistan and are participating in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League season nine (PSL9).

One of them is Mike Hesson, who is with Islamabad United and other is West Indies great Darren Sammy, who is associated with Peshawar Zalmi.

Moreover, the board is also mulling over to land Sir Vivian Richards for mentorship of the Men in Green.

Under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB is keen on assembling a robust coaching staff for the national cricket team.

To expedite the process and ensure a timely appointment before the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand at home, the PCB is also exploring the option of appointing local coaches alongside foreign consultants.

The Blackcaps will tour Pakistan for five T20Is in April. The series is expected to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
