Iraqi media not allowed to use ‘Israel’ for Zionist regime

Iraqi media houses have started using the term ‘Zionist regime’ instead of ‘Israel’ with the view to show solidarity with Palestinians.

This was stated by the Commission of Media and Communications (CMC) in Iraq.

Ali Almuayid has said that using the word ‘Israel’ has been banned in Iraqi media. Now the media is using ‘the Zionist regime’ or the ‘usurping Zionist regime’.

Despite pressure from the United States and some other countries to block the move, it is now legal and being executed in Iraq, he added

Ali Almuayid was of the view that using the word ‘Israel’ could somehow legitimize the Zionist entity.

He said that focusing on the Palestinian cause is vital, urging increased cooperation between Iranian and Iraqi media in this connection.
