Wanted ex-Raw spy Vikash Yadav arrested

Wanted ex-Raw spy Vikash Yadav was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with his alleged role in directing a foiled plot to assassinate pro-Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on the US soil.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had released a wanted poster of Vikash Yadav after he was charged by the US for allegedly directing a foiled plot to murder Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York City.

On Thursday, the Indian ministry external affairs confirmed that Yadav “no longer an employee of the government of India”, after his named was linked with the case.

Now, according to Indian Express, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell had arrested Vikash Yadav in an extortion case.

His arrest came three weeks after he was first mentioned by the US Department of Justice documents as “CC-1” (co-conspirator) last November.

The publication claimed that Yadav was released on bail in April this year.

On Friday, the 39-year-old was named by the DoJ and charged with “murder-for-hire” and money laundering in the alleged Gurpatwant Singh Pannun murder plot.

He is said to be a former employee of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Yadav, had earlier been arrested in December 2023 for his alleged involvement in extortion and kidnapping case and his links with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The complainant, a Rohini resident, had stated that he previously ran an IT company and had built connections with several Indians residing in West Asia, the report added.

The complainant told the newspaper on Friday that he had approached the police on December 17 last year after being kidnapped by Vikash Yadav and his accomplice.
