Pakistanis may face a ban on traveling to US next week: sources

People from Pakistan may soon face a ban on travelling to the US.

Sources said that after the US government’s review next week of the countries’ security and vetting risks a travel ban is likely on people from Pakistan and Afghanistan by President Trump.

They added that other countries could also be on the same list but did not know which ones.

The latest travel restriction could affect tens of thousands of Afghans who have been cleared for resettlement in the US as refugees or on Special Immigrant Visas.

On January 20, Donald Trump issued an executive order that required intensified security vetting of any foreigners seeking entry into the US.

The order had asked several cabinet members to submit by March 12 data of countries from which travel should be partly or fully suspended because their vetting and screening information is so deficient.

The sources familiar to the development said that Pakistan and Afghanistan will be included in the recommended list of countries for a complete travel ban.
