Credit for arrest of ISIS terrorist goes to Pakistan: US State Dept
The United States has said that the credit for the arrest of Isis terrorist Sharifullah, the mastermind of the Kabul airport attack, goes to Pakistan, thanking the government of Pakistan for this cooperation.
State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a media briefing that the arrest of Isis terrorist Sharifullah from the Pak-Afghan border shows that cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in the field of counter-terrorism is very important.
The United States has expressed its gratitude to Pakistan for the arrest of the ISIS member. Regarding Muhammad Sharifullah, the State Department spokesperson said that the accused is currently in custody.
She said that the United States is grateful to the government of Pakistan for this cooperation. “As far as the nature of America’s relationship with Pakistan is concerned, it is our common interest to fight terrorism,” she further said.
Earlier, US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz also praised Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.
Pakistan, based on CIA information, arrested the ISIS commander who was involved in a horrific terrorist plot on the occasion of the withdrawal of US troops in Afghanistan in 2021.
According to security sources, Pakistan arrested Afghan national ISIS commander Sharifullah, the mastermind of the attack on Kabul airport, from the Pak-Afghan border during a special operation.
