UAE announces heavy fines for traffic violations – Check here

11 April, 2025 16:14

The United Arab Emirates has announced tough new traffic rules aimed at improving road safety. Motorists who break traffic laws may now face heavy fines and even arrest in serious cases.

Strict Penalties for Major Violations

Under the new rules, breaking a red light can lead to a fine of up to AED 100,000 (around 1 million Pakistani rupees) and vehicle confiscation.
Driving under the influence of alcohol can result in immediate arrest, cancellation of your driving license, and a heavy fine.
Reckless or dangerous driving will also lead to arrest and your vehicle being seized on the spot.

Recreational motorcycle riding without proper safety or in restricted areas is now strictly banned, and violators will face legal action.

More Power to Traffic Police

Traffic officers have been given wider authority to act immediately against such violations. This means they can take direct action without delay when someone is caught breaking these laws.

New Rules Now in Effect

These laws have been officially enforced in cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other parts of the UAE since the end of March. Authorities say the changes are meant to protect lives and ensure smoother traffic flow across the country.

All drivers are advised to follow the rules strictly to avoid serious legal trouble and penalties.
