We Do Not Support Israeli Strikes In Syria: US State Dept.

18 July, 2025 10:42

Washington: US State Department spokesperson Timmy Bruce has stated that the US does not support Israeli strikes in Syria.

During a press conference, Timmy Bruce condemned the tense situation in Syria and said that the US does not support Israeli attacks there.

She expressed hope that the situation in Syria would return to normal by tonight and urged all parties involved in the tension to avoid violence. The US is engaged in diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire in Syria.

She said the major cause of the tension in Syria is the longstanding hostility between two tribes and assured that measures will be taken to prevent such situations from arising again.

Timmy Bruce also said that Israel is continuing efforts for a ceasefire including in Gaza, as are Russia and Ukraine. The US provides 1 million tons of food aid annually to the world, and 500 metric tons of biscuits that were wasted were meant for emergency needs.

When a journalist asked whether there was no emergency situation in Gaza, Timmy Bruce responded that the US still provides the largest amount of food aid worldwide. He said Hamas is responsible for the current situation in Gaza and that Hamas is still holding people hostage.

The spokesperson further said that the US condemns drone attacks on oil facilities in Iraq. He added that the US has observed irresponsible statements from Russia, and that the Russia-Ukraine issue should be resolved diplomatically. He noted that former President Trump has already said he is not happy with Russia’s behavior.
