America Shifts Afghanistan Strategy, Eyes Taliban Ouster

24 September, 2025 16:07

US President Donald Trump has reportedly demanded the return of the strategic Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan, in what sources describe as part of a broader plan to overthrow the Taliban government and support the establishment of a pro-American administration in Kabul.

According to insider sources, the United States is shifting its policy away from direct military involvement and instead aims to support Taliban-opposing factions to carry out a proxy campaign within the country.

Reports suggest that the Taliban regime is facing increasing resistance, both from armed groups and from growing public dissatisfaction. The government’s strict enforcement of Sharia law has made it increasingly unpopular among Afghan citizens, while internal divisions within the Taliban leadership have further weakened its grip on power. In several provinces, the Taliban’s control has diminished, with anti-Taliban political and ethnic groups intensifying their operations.

U.S. intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA, are said to be reaching out to opposition leaders and organizing efforts to unite these factions on a single platform. As part of this effort, the CIA is reportedly working to build a grassroots network using Afghan civilians affected by poverty and hardship, aiming to mobilize them against the Taliban regime.

This new approach signals a major shift in U.S. foreign policy in the region, moving away from direct conflict and instead pursuing a coordinated internal destabilization strategy. If these developments continue, Afghanistan may soon face another wave of political upheaval and civil unrest.
