Indian Media Accused of Spreading Fake News Against Pakistan

14 October, 2025 14:45

Indian media outlets are being accused of spreading false content targeting Pakistan. Experts claim that many of these reports are meant to stir hate between the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and to paint Pakistan in a negative light.

One major example involves claims of new clashes along the Pakistan‑Afghanistan border. Indian channels allegedly used fake or AI‑manipulated images and videos to support their stories, presenting normal events in exaggerated or false ways. Pakistani citizen Adil Dawar, from North Waziristan, was even shown in a doctored photo, falsely presented as a martyr on the Pak‑Afghan border. He responded with a video saying the image was fake, made using artificial intelligence.

These incidents point to a broader trend where some Indian media is accused of using misinformation or propaganda to sow discord between communities and countries. Many of these reports are not verified before going public.

Analysts warn that such fake reporting can damage trust, create misunderstanding, and escalate tensions. They call for media outlets to be more responsible, verify facts, and avoid spreading sensational or false content.

However, Indian media outlets are reporting that new clashes have erupted between Afghan and Pakistani security forces in the Shorabak District of Kandahar province, along the border.

Local sources cited by these outlets confirm the fighting, but no details have yet emerged about what triggered the renewed hostilities.

Further verification from independent or official parties is pending.
