UAE Work Visa violation fine in Pakistani rupees—check details

10 December, 2025 17:42

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stepped up enforcement of its immigration laws to protect its labor market, introducing a zero-tolerance policy for violations.

The government has declared that breaking residency laws or misusing visit visas is a crime against national security. Reports say that anyone sheltering illegal residents could face fines of up to 5 million dirhams (about 38 crore Pakistani rupees). Those providing work or housing to illegal residents may face both heavy fines and imprisonment.

Fines and Penalties

  • Working on a visit visa is now considered a crime, with fines exceeding 10,000 dirhams (around Rs760,000).

  • Using fake residency documents could result in up to 10 years in prison.

Pakistanis in the UAE

The UAE is a key destination for millions of Pakistanis seeking work and opportunities. Around 1.5 to 1.7 million Pakistanis live in the UAE, making up 12-13% of the population.

Pakistani workers are important to the UAE labor market, especially in mid-level skilled jobs, and contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy by sending remittances back home. They work in sectors like construction, hospitality, healthcare, and other professional fields.

The UAE’s new enforcement measures aim to ensure that its labor market remains secure and regulated while maintaining opportunities for legal workers.
