Iran’s FM warns Trump against foreign intervention

02 January, 2026 18:35

TEHRAN: Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Iranians will not allow any foreign country to interfere in their internal issues. The statement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei on Friday.

Baqaei shared his remarks on social media platform X in response to comments made by US President Donald Trump. He said that Iran believes its internal problems should be solved through dialogue by Iranians themselves, without outside involvement.

The spokesperson said that looking at the past actions of US leaders clearly shows how the United States has treated the Iranian people. He listed several examples of US involvement in Iran’s history.

These include the 1953 coup against the elected government of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh, the shooting down of an Iranian passenger plane in 1988, and full support for Saddam Hussein during the eight-year Iran-Iraq war. He also mentioned US cooperation with Israel in attacks and assassinations inside Iran, including strikes on Iranian infrastructure in June 2025.

Baqaei added that harsh economic sanctions imposed on Iran and recent threats of military action are also part of this long history. He said such actions are presented as concern for Iranians, but in reality, they violate international law.

He strongly stressed that Iran will continue to address its issues on its own and will not accept any form of foreign interference.
