Donald Trump Praises Pakistan’s Operation Ghazab Lil Haq

28 February, 2026 01:09

President Donald Trump of the United States praised Pakistan’s Friday strikes against the Afghan Taliban government as part of “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” stating that the nation was “doing terrifically well.”

Pakistani soldiers used successful airstrikes earlier Friday to target important Afghan Taliban military positions in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. The military spokesperson claimed that the current operation was yielding the expected outcomes, with rebels successfully driven out at 53 points along the border, causing significant casualties while using restraint to protect civilians.

Later, the government reported that 297 enemies had been killed, over 450 had been injured, 89 Afghan Taliban posts had been destroyed and 18 had been captured, 135 Afghan Taliban regime tanks and armed personnel carriers had been destroyed, and 29 locations throughout Afghanistan had been hit by aerial strikes.

Before leaving for Texas today, Trump spoke to media and was questioned about Pakistan’s response to what it called the Afghan Taliban’s “unprovoked aggression.”

Trump responded, “Well, I would, but I get along with Pakistan, as you know, very well,” when asked if anyone had asked him to step in. Excellent, excellent.

“[They] have a great prime minister, a great general there, a great leader … two of the people I really respect a lot,” he made reference to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, whom he has frequently commended and expressed admiration for.

“And I think that Pakistan is doing terrifically well,” he added about his thoughts on the situation.

In the meantime, after intense combat broke out between Pakistan and Afghanistan, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres demanded an urgent ceasefire.

“The escalation of violence we’re seeing between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the impact that violence is having on civilian populations,” Guterres said. Stephane Dujarric, his spokesperson, stated.

The spokesperson went on, “He calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and he reiterates his call on the parties to resolve any differences through diplomacy.”

In a separate statement, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) demanded that civilians be safeguarded and that access to healthcare be ensured in order to de-escalate the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In a statement, ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric called for “restraint and de-escalation,” stating that “we are witnessing a profound escalation of hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

People in a region that had “already endured decades of conflict, displacement, and loss” were being harmed by the increase in violence, she emphasized.

“They have seen and felt the impact of war on their loved ones in their communities,” she added.
