Iranian Retaliatory Missiles Strike US Bases Across Gulf Region

28 February, 2026 14:31

Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on US military bases across the Gulf region on Saturday. The attacks came after what Tehran described as joint US-Israeli aggression against Iranian territory earlier in the day.

Officials in Bahrain confirmed that a missile targeted a service center linked to the United States Fifth Fleet. The fleet is based in Manama and oversees US naval operations in the Gulf.

Bahrain Activates Emergency Sirens

Bahrain’s National Communications Center said the strike was part of Iran’s retaliation. Shortly after, the Ministry of Interior announced that emergency sirens were activated across parts of the country.

Residents were urged to stay calm. Citizens and expatriates were told to move to the nearest safe location until further notice. Authorities have not yet released full details about damage or casualties.

Qatar and UAE on High Alert

In Qatar, the US Embassy warned its citizens to seek shelter immediately. The advisory told Americans to remain indoors due to the possible approach of missiles.

Russian media reported that Iranian ballistic missiles targeted Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. The base hosts US forces and is located near Abu Dhabi.

According to Reuters, loud explosions were heard in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The report cited the Emirati state news agency, which said one person was killed by an interceptor missile.

Sirens in Kuwait and Explosions in Saudi Arabia

Reuters also quoted a witness who said sirens sounded in Kuwait. This raised concerns that the missile activity could spread further across the region.

Meanwhile, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported loud explosions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. No official statement has yet confirmed the cause of those blasts.

US Embassy Issues Warnings in Jordan

In Jordan, the US Embassy announced new security measures. All embassy staff were instructed to remain inside their residences until further notice.

Background to the Escalation

The missile launches followed Israeli airstrikes on multiple locations in Iran earlier on Saturday. Iranian officials described those attacks as coordinated aggression supported by the United States.

In response, Tehran launched several waves of missiles toward Israel. Explosions were reported in different areas across occupied Palestine, marking one of the most serious escalations in recent years.

Regional governments are now on high alert. Military forces across the Gulf are monitoring the situation closely. More updates are expected as officials assess the damage and the risk of further strikes.

This is a developing story.
