UAE Vows Not to Allow Territory to Be Used Against Iran

03 March, 2026 20:02

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reaffirmed its position of neutrality, declaring that it will not allow its airspace or territory to be used for attacks against Iran. In a media briefing held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, officials outlined a series of security, economic, and humanitarian measures, while emphasizing the importance of regional stability.

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation, made it clear that the UAE’s stance on this matter was firm. “The UAE will not permit its airspace or land to be used in any attack against Iran,” she said, underscoring the nation’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and ensuring the safety of all citizens, residents, and visitors.

Al Hashimy also expressed concern over Iran’s ballistic missile program, describing it as a regional threat, and reiterated that the security of the Gulf states is “indivisible.” She further warned that there was no military solution to the ongoing crisis and that any escalation would undermine the stability of the region.

In response to recent tensions, the UAE had already closed its embassy in Tehran and recalled its ambassador.

Meanwhile, Major General Abdul Nasser Al Humaidi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, affirmed that the UAE would “never accept its sovereignty and security being compromised.” He explained that the sounds of recent missile interceptions heard in the country were a result of the UAE’s robust defense systems. The UAE’s armed forces are reportedly at a heightened state of readiness, with strategic defense reserves in place to counter aerial threats for extended periods.

On the economic front, Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla bin Touq reassured the public that the country has ample strategic reserves of food and essential goods, enough to meet demand for the next four to six months. He emphasized that there is “no risk of shortages” and urged residents to avoid panic buying or over-purchasing.

Bin Touq also noted that, to support residents wishing to leave the country, 80 flights per day would be made available during the current phase.

In addition, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) confirmed that life in the UAE continues as normal, with all essential services fully operational.

The UAE’s response reflects a measured approach to the current geopolitical tensions while prioritizing the safety and well-being of its citizens and the stability of the region.
