Iran Warns of Escalation, Says ‘No More Self-Restraint’ if Infrastructure Attacks Continue

20 March, 2026 02:02

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a strong warning, stating that Tehran will not exercise restraint if further attacks are carried out on its infrastructure.

In a message posted on his X account on Thursday, Araghchi said that Iran’s response to recent Israeli strikes on its infrastructure represented only a limited portion of its full capabilities.

The warning follows attacks on Iran’s fuel and energy facilities in the southern part of the country on Wednesday, which Tehran attributes to Israel.

Highlighting Iran’s stance, Araghchi said the country had shown restraint in line with international calls for de-escalation. “If attacks on our infrastructure are repeated, there will be no more self-restraint,” he declared, adding that any resolution to the conflict must include accountability for damage caused to civilian sites.

Iran has accused the United States and Israel of initiating the current escalation with strikes that it says violated its sovereignty and targeted key leadership and infrastructure. In response, Tehran has launched missile and drone attacks against Israeli-controlled territories and US military bases in the region.

The latest statement signals a potential intensification of the conflict if further strikes on Iranian infrastructure occur.
