Modi’s False Propaganda on Strait of Hormuz Exposed

20 March, 2026 10:16

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has been accused of misleading the public about energy arrangements with Iran. Critics say the BJP administration has pushed India into an energy crisis while spending taxpayers’ money on war hysteria and corruption.

According to the Indian news outlet Scroll.in, Modi attempted to control public anger over the energy shortage by using pro-government media to spread false reports. Last week, some Indian media outlets claimed that Iran had exempted India from the Strait of Hormuz blockade. Scroll.in called these reports ridiculous and baseless.

The Indian Foreign Minister denied the claims, stating there is no comprehensive arrangement with Iran for Indian ships. The statement exposed the propaganda as false.

Under international pressure, Modi ended partnerships with Iranian oil and the Chabahar port and seized Iranian tankers to show opposition to Iran. As a result, Iran no longer considers India neutral in the ongoing conflict, according to Scroll.in.

Experts say that despite Modi’s loud claims, India has failed to achieve energy independence during his tenure. Analysts note that India remains a country with limited influence in global energy markets, contradicting the government’s assertions.
