Millions Rally Across US in ‘No Kings’ Protests Against Donald Trump Policies and Leadership

29 March, 2026 14:34

Widespread protests erupted across the United States as millions of demonstrators took to the streets to oppose President Donald Trump and his policies during a nationwide day of action known as “No Kings.”

Organizers claimed that “at least 8 million people gathered today at more than 3,300 events across all 50 states,” marking one of the largest coordinated protest movements in recent years. However, U.S. authorities have not issued an official nationwide estimate.

The demonstrations, held in major cities and smaller communities alike, reflect growing opposition to Trump’s leadership style, strict immigration measures, and ongoing military involvement in Iran. The “No Kings” movement has become a major platform for dissent since the beginning of Trump’s second term in 2025.

In New York City, tens of thousands gathered, including actor Robert De Niro, who described the president as “an existential threat to our freedoms and security.” Similar scenes unfolded in cities such as Atlanta, San Diego, and Washington, D.C., where protesters assembled at the National Mall carrying banners with strong anti-government messages.

Participants voiced concerns about constitutional rights and democratic values. One protester in Atlanta stated, “No country can govern without the consent of the people,” while another in Washington expressed frustration, saying, “He keeps lying and lying and lying and lying, and no one says anything. So it’s a terrible situation we’re in.”

The protests also extended beyond U.S. borders, with demonstrations reported in European cities including Amsterdam, Madrid, and Rome, highlighting the global attention surrounding American politics.

The “No Kings” movement has organized multiple large-scale protests over the past year, with turnout continuing to grow. Critics of Trump point to his use of executive powers, legal actions against opponents, and military strategies as key concerns.

In Minnesota, a focal point of recent political debate, prominent figures including Bernie Sanders addressed large crowds, criticizing the administration’s policies. Meanwhile, musician Bruce Springsteen performed during a rally, dedicating a song to victims of earlier protests.

“Since the last time we marched, this administration has dragged us deeper into war,” said a representative of a veterans’ group, reflecting broader concerns among demonstrators.

The scale and intensity of the protests underscore deep political divisions in the United States, as public scrutiny of government actions continues to intensify ahead of upcoming elections.
