Iran Halts Traffic Again in Strait of Hormuz
Tehran: Hours after the key waterway of the Strait of Hormuz was opened as a result of a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, taking it under strict military control.
According to media reports, a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has announced that the system of passage through the Strait of Hormuz has returned to strict military control.
The Iranian state media outlet Press TV, the spokesman attributed the move to repeated violations by the United States and piracy in the name of the blockade, saying that Iran had allowed a limited number of ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under agreements. The United States has not fulfilled its obligations, so now the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again, and Iran’s permission will be required for passage.
Iran also warned that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed again if US warships intercepted ships passing through Iranian ports.
Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf wrote on “X” that if the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open, and permission from Iran will be required to pass through this waterway.
They say that the US President made 7 claims in 1 hour, all of which were false. They will certainly not gain anything in negotiations. If the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said that the opening and closing of the Strait of Hormuz are not decided on the Internet; they are decided on the ground, and our armed forces certainly know how to behave in response to any action by the other side. What they call a naval blockade will definitely be responded to appropriately by Iran. A naval blockade is a violation of the ceasefire, and Iran will definitely take the necessary measures.
The Iranian Ministry of Defense states that traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is conditional on non-attack, and access to this important trade route depends on the current ceasefire situation.
Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik has said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open only in the event of a ceasefire and that military ships and ships affiliated with hostile forces will not be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The current situation is temporary, and if the situation on the ground, especially regarding Lebanon, changes, this important waterway could be closed again.
