IRGC Aerospace Commander Warns of “False Narratives” Over Strait of Hormuz

The commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a strong warning against what he described as enemy attempts at spreading “false narratives” regarding the strategic realities of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s authority over the vital waterway.

In a post shared on social media on Friday, Brigadier General Majid Mousavi paid tribute to Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the former commander of the IRGC Navy, who was killed during what Iran described as unprovoked aggression by the United States and Israel. Mousavi referred to the late commander as “The architect of the new order in the Strait of Hormuz.”

The statement recalled that prior to his death, Tangsiri had ordered the closure of the Strait to hostile forces and their allies as part of Iran’s response to escalating regional tensions.

Former US President Donald Trump had previously announced a temporary halt in strikes on Iran, following major disruptions in global energy markets caused by tensions around the Strait. Iran also reported multiple retaliatory operations targeting strategic American and Israeli positions in the region.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later confirmed the reopening of the Strait following a ceasefire agreement, which Tehran said was tied to broader diplomatic arrangements.

However, Trump claimed on his platform that Iran had “agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again.” He also stated that the US “naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete.” He further added that negotiations “should go very quickly in that most of the points are already negotiated.”

Iran firmly rejected these claims, stressing that maritime access is regulated under Iranian authorization and applies only to commercial vessels via designated routes.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf also emphasized that “whether the strait remains open or closed, and the rules governing it, will be determined on the battlefield.”

Reaffirming Iran’s military stance, Mousavi concluded that “The IRGC Aerospace Force remains distrustful of the enemy, with its finger on the trigger and in full readiness to defend Iran.”
