Iran Executes Two Men Convicted of Spying for Mossad in West Azerbaijan Province
Iran has executed two men convicted of espionage for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan.
The individuals, identified as Yaghoub Karimpour and Nasser Bekrzadeh, were put to death on Saturday morning after their sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court of Iran and finalized through legal procedures.
According to official case records, Karimpour maintained direct communication with a Mossad officer during the 12-day conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran in July 2025. He allegedly provided sensitive information about strategic locations and individuals in Iran in exchange for cryptocurrency payments.
Authorities stated that he was trained to manufacture sound bombs, which he later deployed in specific areas. He reportedly documented these incidents and shared images and videos with his handler. These materials were later broadcast by the Iran International channel to depict instability within the country.
Karimpour was also accused of photographing military installations and coordinating acts of sabotage, including arson attacks on ATMs in cities such as Karaj and Mashhad, by recruiting others in return for payment.
He was convicted by the Islamic Revolution Court on charges including “waging war against God” and “corruption on earth” due to his alleged cooperation with Israeli intelligence.
The second individual, Bekrzadeh, was found guilty of collecting and sharing intelligence on key infrastructure sites across Iran. This included providing images and details related to sensitive facilities such as the Natanz uranium enrichment site, as well as information about officials and religious figures.
Iranian authorities said that since the escalation of conflict in June last year, security forces have detained numerous individuals accused of collaborating with hostile entities.
Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, Iran’s Judiciary Chief, has urged courts to expedite espionage-related cases and avoid prolonged legal delays.
