Pezeshkian Accuses US and Israel of Divisive Strategy to Undermine Muslim Unity
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States and Israel of attempting to weaken unity among Muslim nations through what he described as “divisive projects” designed to spread distrust and tension across the region.
During a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Sunday, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s policy of strengthening friendly and stable relations with neighboring countries, particularly those in the Persian Gulf region.
He stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks cordial, stable, and sustainable relations based on good neighborliness with the Muslim countries of the region, but the United States and the Zionist regime (Israel) have always attempted, through divisive projects and the creation of distrust, to pit Muslim countries against one another,” emphasizing Tehran’s position on regional diplomacy.
The Iranian president also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in helping mediate a ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington following what he described as a period of conflict. He expressed hope that such diplomatic efforts would contribute to long-term peace and regional stability.
Pezeshkian strongly condemned recent military actions against Iran, calling them a violation of international law. He said the attacks and the killing of Iranian officials and civilians represented a serious crime. He stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks cordial, stable, and sustainable relations based on good neighborliness with the Muslim countries of the region, but the United States and the Zionist regime (Israel) have always attempted, through divisive projects and the creation of distrust, to pit Muslim countries against one another,” reinforcing Iran’s stance on external interference.
He further argued that external powers aimed to create internal instability in Iran but failed due to national unity and resilience. According to him, attempts were also made to use militant groups to destabilize Iran’s borders, but neighboring countries helped prevent such actions.
Pezeshkian praised Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq for preventing the use of their territories against Iran and highlighted growing opportunities for regional cooperation in trade, science, and cultural exchange. He stressed that expanded cooperation between Iran and Pakistan could strengthen peace and economic development.
He also urged Muslim nations to enhance unity and cooperation, stating, “The major countries of the Muslim world must strengthen regional cooperation and interaction to help establish lasting peace, security, and stability in the region, because through Islamic unity and convergence, the Zionist regime will never dare to attack or violate the sovereignty of Muslim countries,” calling for collective regional strength.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged Islamabad’s diplomatic role in reducing tensions and reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between Iran and Pakistan. He expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in the future.
Naqvi’s visit included meetings with senior Iranian officials, including the Interior Minister and the Speaker of Parliament, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and regional stability.
