Israeli command admits Hezbollah remains strong and unbroken

The ongoing war in southern Lebanon in 2026 has exposed a major gap between Israel’s official claims of success and the actual situation on the ground.

Israeli military leaders, including senior commanders, have reportedly admitted that Hezbollah still maintains strong command and control and has the capability to fire around 200 rockets daily while keeping its operations active.

The conflict, which escalated after Israel launched its “Arrows of the North” operation in late 2024, was initially expected by Israeli officials to weaken Hezbollah significantly. However, developments on the ground suggest the opposite, as Hezbollah continues to remain active and organized.

Israeli Northern Command chief Major General Rafi Milo has acknowledged in internal discussions that the Israeli military was surprised by Hezbollah’s resilience and operational strength. Reports from leaked briefings suggest he pointed out a clear difference between official claims and battlefield reality, stating that Hezbollah remains fully operational and continues conducting attacks.

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has also reportedly raised concerns about the situation, confirming that the issue has been discussed at the highest levels of military leadership.

Despite heavy airstrikes and ongoing fighting, Hezbollah is said to have maintained its command structure inside Lebanon. The group reportedly operates through sector commanders who coordinate attacks and rocket fire in real time.

Even villages targeted during Israeli strikes in 2024 have reportedly seen Hezbollah regroup, rebuild positions, and restore supply lines.

Israeli media outlets have also begun acknowledging difficulties in the campaign. Reports in Israeli newspapers suggest the military was not fully prepared for the scale of the conflict, pointing to intelligence challenges, equipment shortages, and fatigue from prolonged multi-front operations.

Current Israeli assessments indicate that Hezbollah still has the capacity to launch up to 200 rockets per day for several months, with an estimated stockpile of around 10,000 rockets and hundreds of active launchers.

Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile systems are also reported to pose a continuous threat to Israeli positions near the border.

Meanwhile, internal Israeli discussions about creating a new buffer zone highlight ongoing strategic concerns, with some former commanders warning that such measures may not be enough to stop cross-border attacks.

While previous narratives suggested that Hezbollah was significantly weakened, current battlefield developments and internal Israeli assessments indicate that the group remains highly active and capable of sustained resistance.
