Trump Claims “Total Control” of Strait of Hormuz, Vows Iran Will Be Denied Nuclear Capability and Enriched Uranium

US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States holds “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz through a naval blockade and reiterated that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

Speaking at the White House, Trump stated that Washington would eventually recover Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, despite Tehran’s refusal to hand over the material. He said: “We have total control of Strait of Hormuz with our blockade. Iran will not get nuclear weapon or we’ll do something drastic.”

The remarks highlight Washington’s continued hardline position on Iran’s nuclear program, particularly concerning near-weapons-grade uranium that US officials believe may have been concealed underground following previous US and Israeli airstrikes nearly a year ago.

At the same time, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Ali Khamenei has reportedly issued a directive that the country’s enriched uranium must remain inside Iran. According to senior Iranian sources, this decision strengthens Tehran’s position and directly challenges US demands in ongoing negotiations.

One Iranian source stated: “The Supreme Leader’s directive, and the consensus within the establishment, is that the stockpile of enriched uranium should not leave the country.” Officials in Tehran reportedly believe that transferring the material abroad would increase vulnerability to future US and Israeli military action.

The standoff reflects deepening tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides holding firm positions on uranium control and nuclear restrictions. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, while the US and its allies continue to express concerns over potential weaponization.
