Trump says Iran-Israel deal enters ‘final throes’ as tensions ease

US President Donald Trump has said that negotiations aimed at containing the Iran-Israel conflict are in their “final throes,” as both sides show signs of pausing direct attacks after days of intense fighting.

Speaking at a televised rally for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, Trump said Washington expects what he called a “total victory” in the coming weeks. He also claimed that oil prices would fall once stability returns, adding, “We’ve been a very tough team, and I think we are winning that battle,” and said the outcome could become clear within two weeks.

His remarks came after Iran and Israel signaled a temporary halt in their exchanges of attacks, easing tensions after one of the most serious escalations between the two countries since a ceasefire earlier this year.

However, Iranian officials warned that the pause could collapse if Israel continues military actions in Lebanon or against Iran-linked groups in the region. Tehran said it had suspended its attacks on Israel but warned of a “crushing response” if further aggression takes place.

Despite the temporary pause, violence continued in other parts of the region. Israeli military operations intensified in southern Lebanon, with drone strikes reported on Nabatieh and air raids hitting nearby towns in the Tyre district, including Kfarsir, Al-Abbasiya, and Al-Ramadiya.

Tensions also remained high in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces carried out overnight raids in Jenin and nearby areas. Local reports said a father and son were arrested, while additional detentions and property damage were reported in Hebron and Nablus, including settlers burning a vehicle in Beit Amrin.

Trump’s comments added to the uncertainty, as he suggested the situation was close to resolution while also warning that pressure on Iran-linked threats would continue.
