Rezaei Urges Caution as Iran-U.S. Talks Begin in Switzerland

Mohsen Rezaei has warned against excessive optimism regarding negotiations with the United States, citing what he described as Washington’s history of failing to honor its commitments. In a post on X on Sunday, Rezaei said Iran must approach the latest round of talks with caution as senior Iranian and American delegations meet in Switzerland to discuss the implementation of a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The former commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) argued that the United States had sought to pressure Iran into submission through its “peace through strength” strategy but failed to achieve its objectives. According to Rezaei, Washington’s push for negotiations now reflects a change in circumstances, which he characterized as a result of the strategy’s shortcomings.
Rezaei stressed that Iran should remain vigilant throughout the negotiation process, warning that misplaced optimism could be exploited by its adversaries. His remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue in Switzerland, where both sides are seeking to address disputes surrounding the MoU and advance discussions aimed at implementing the agreement’s provisions.
