Iran Observing Six-Day Funeral Program for Martyred Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Iranian authorities have announced a six-day funeral schedule for Martyred Ali Khamenei, beginning with a two-day farewell ceremony in Tehran on July 4 and 5. According to the commemoration headquarters, the ceremonies will start at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla, where mourners will be able to pay their respects.

The main funeral procession is scheduled for July 6 in Tehran. Organizers said the bodies of four other individuals—Dr. Mesbah-ol-Hoda Bagheri, Seyyedeh Boshra Hosseini Khamenei, Zahra Haddad Adel, and Zahra Mohammadi Golpaygani—will be carried alongside that of the late leader during the procession. Funeral prayers are set to take place the following day in the holy city of Qom.

On July 8, the procession is expected to travel to Iraq following requests from Iraqi tribal, religious, and political figures, organizers said. The funeral ceremonies will conclude on July 9 with burial in Mashhad, one of Iran’s most significant religious centres. The commemorative slogan for the event is “Must Rise” with a clenched fist as its symbol. In Arab countries, the official slogan will be “Qumo lillah” (Stand for God).
