Two More Members Announce Departure from Joint Public Action Committee

24 June, 2026 11:45

The Joint Public Action Committee (JPAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has suffered another setback after two of its members, Rizwan Karamat and Bilal Sheikh, announced their departure from the organization. In separate video messages, both individuals said they no longer agreed with the committee’s current direction and activities and were formally ending their association with the group.

Rizwan Karamat stated that the movement, which was originally launched to demand affordable flour and electricity, had deviated from its initial objectives and taken on a political character. He urged young people in Azad Kashmir to carefully assess the situation and make informed decisions. Bilal Sheikh similarly claimed that the committee had moved away from its founding goals, prompting him to sever ties with the organization.

The Joint Public Action Committee has not publicly responded to these allegations. Political observers say the departures may indicate internal disagreements within the movement, although the claims made by the former members have not been independently verified. The development comes amid ongoing debate over the committee’s role and objectives in Azad Jammu and Kashmir which has been found involved in anti-state activities.
